Time Drill
5 Min Active Stretching
5 Min Game Recap
  • A couple of things I was incorrect about
    • Scoring 2nd half
    • my tone at the end of the game
    • Didnt prepare the team for high pressure defense
  • Need the teams help with paying attention and self checking eachother when we misbehave
  • Sunday nights will be for fun, lets use practice to get better
10 Min Ground Ball 3 Forms Drill
  • Partner kids up with a ball and do the following phases of GB's
    • Phase 1: Drop their stick, one kid rolls the ball to the other and the person does a standing ground ball with both hands (jogging towards the ball)
    • Phase 2: One hand grabbing the throat of the stick, roll the ball to the other kid, switch hands
    • Phase 3: Standing 2 hand scoop, roll the ball and scoop it, both butts down and place foot next to the ball
10 Min Duke Transition Drill
Duke Transistion Drill
  • Works on quickly moving the ball quickly after the GB
  • Put two goalies in the cage
  • Two goals 40 yards apart, place 2 cones on the side line 10 yards apart
  • Have two groups of kids and decide if you want to play 2v2, 3v3, 4v4
  • Kids line up on the center cones, intermingling themselves
  • Coach rolls the ball and they release to fight for the ground ball, the next players line up and get ready
  • Whoever gets the ground ball, is on offense and they push in transition trying to score, if ball is shot or dropped the drill is over
  • The game continues and keeps score until time runs out or the score is reached
  • Rules:
    • 1. Get GB = Play Offense (Emphasis on Ground balls)
    • 2. Dropped ball - Rep Over (take care of the ball)
    • 3. "D" can play "O" if intercept a pass, picks it up right away, goalie makes a save
  • Alternative: You can have both teams play Offense but put a 20 second reps
  • Alternative: You can add skills, like faking or on ball picks etc
  • Alternative: The losing team has some sort of punishment like running

15 Min 2-Man Game in our set
15 Min Offense against a high pressure defense
  • Against a high pressure defense bring the ball towards the mid line
  • Have another middie follow
  • Set on ball picks or off ball picks, Cutters towards the crease and back, v cuts are important
  • fake ball to the adjacent, then have that guy cut to the crease, don't clutter the crease
  • Back up, dodge towards the goal, beat your man then draw the double
10 Min 1 on 1 in a contained space
  • Work on dodging with a purpose
10 Min 6 v 7
20 Min Man Up and Man Down
10 Min Motion when someone is driving
10 Min Face Offs
5 Min Water
30 Min 6 on 6
