Time Drill
5 Min Active Stretching
5 Min Salisbury Beckman Bucket Shooting Drill
Salisbury Beckman Bucket Drill
  • No goalie and line kids up a little behind GLE about 10 yards out on either side of the goal
  • Put two buckets about 2 yards apart in front of the goal 10 yards out
  • Put balls at the feet of each line
  • Kid runs from one line in (1) an arc towards to first bucket and receives a pass (2)
  • He then steps past the 2nd bucket and shoots on the run to the opposite triangle in the goals netting (4)
  • The player at (3) awaits to run towards the next bucket and shoots with the outside hand

Salisbury Attack Bull Dodge
  • No goalie and line kids up behind the goal in two lines (1)
  • Setup cones as shown in the image, creating a lane in the back
  • Kids run through the lane, choose a side, then split or roll dodge (2)
  • They run to the other side of the field, towards the outside cone (3)
  • They stutter or rocker step with their stick on the outside, the turn to the middle and shoot (4)
  • Kids should go in a continual format



Defense:

Long Pole Breakout Drill

Long Pole Breakout Drill

The purpose of this drill is to combine some footwork drills with a breakout for a clear, and to teach a long pole what to do when he's in trouble on the clear.

  • Have a coach act as a goalie
  • Put a ladder to the left or right of the goal (1)
  • 3 cones out in a line where you want the kid to banana cut (2)
  • two cones further up the field in a line
  • The player runs through the ladder, banana cuts around the 3 cones
  • Calls for the ball and catches a pass from the goalie at (2)
  • Face dodges the first cone up the field (3), then fakes the 2nd cone, then rolls back and passes back to the coach in the middle of the field (4)

10 Min Clearing Stations
  • Split kids into these 3 groups: Attack, Middie, Defense
  • Defense Group with 1 goalie
    • Have 3 defense cluster in front of the goal
    • Goalie with the ball yells clear, 2 defense go to the side at GLE, 1 goes top right
    • Goalie passes to one at GLE, that D passes to the other GLE D, and then passes to the D near the mid line
    • Rotate all Defense in
  • Midfield Group with 1 goalie location at the midline
    • Two midfield stand about 10 yards apart passing to each other
    • Goalie yells clear and they pass to the goalie
    • Both middies banana cut out and goalie passes to one. The other Middie takes off down field, banana cutting to receive a pass from the first Middie
  • Attack Group
    • 3 Attack take the field
    • 2 attack stay near the midline and 1 attack is halfway to goal from the midline
    • Coach passes the ball to one of the top attack, the attack closest to goal runs to X
    • The other high attack takes off down the field looking for a pass. Takes the pass and either shoots or passes to the guy at X
    • X attack goes around goal and looks for attack that made the pass driving to goal
    • Original attack breaks to goal looking for a pass and goes to X, attack adjust to 2 GLE and 1 at x

10 Min Dodging down the alley and clearing through
  • offense will be about dodging from the top
  • Setup in a 2-2-2 Stacked
  • Talk about the formation and what's important
  • Talk about clearing through
  • Go for the shot, if no shot, pass to the x guy and redirect to the weakside
  • Can do sweeps and players must clear through

  • Make two lines of players at the stars on the picture
  • Setup cones as pictured
  • Put a pile of balls by the top stars
  • A player picks up a ball, drives down the alley (1), pops out (2)
  • The other player at (3) clears through and curls back, receiving a pass at (4)
  • The player turns and shoots, and goes to the next line

  • When the flag goes up must pass

10 Min Ultimate Lacrosse

Think “ultimate frisbee” with lacrosse sticks-- players are only allowed to take three steps with the ball before they must pass. If they don’t pass within three seconds of stopping, they turn the ball over to the other team.


  • Make it a really long field and crossing end zones
