Face Off Wing Mechanics
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vHRiNriAlP0
- If their wing guys are on their side of the field, lineup our wing guys on the inside of the man hip to hip on their side of the field
- On our face off guy, butt end side, box out then sprint at angle back to get the rack
- On our face off guy, stick head side, box out and hope to get a ground ball
- If their face off guy is winning get our stick head guy to move to our defensive side of the field
- If we are losing run to the top of the box

Face Off into a 4v4 or 5v4
- The goal with this drill is to get a lot of reps from faceoffs and wing play
- Make this drill competitive and keep score
- Divide your kids equally into different colors, with attack, middies, and defense spread across both teams
- Move your goals in for a shorter field and put 2 goalies in cage
- Have 1 defense man and 1 attack man at each end of the field
- Have 3 midfielders from each team at the midfield line
- Do a faceoff whoever gains position takes the ball down and tries to score, if they don't score the opposite team has one chance to clear it. If after the clear there is no goal, then we re-face off
- A variation is to add two attack per team so after the faceoff it turns into a 5v4 instead of 4v4

Face-Off to Fastbreak
- Put a goalie in the net and 3 attack and 3 defense
- Have your middies at the midline in two lines on opposite sides of the field
- 4 middies are in the drill at once. Two middies face off, the middie line on their butt end side is on their team
- We do the face off, the face off guys, look to pop the ball out to a wing guy, the wing guy that wins it goes down for a fast break, the other players are out of the game play
- Keep score on each side of the midfield
- Alternatives: Have a chaser middie after 2-3 seconds and have the face-off middie go mono vs mono

- 1 Line midway between goal and top of box
- 1 Line behind the goal on the same side of the field as the other 2 lines
- Balls should be at the top and side lines
- Top line, passes to the behind the goal line, that player runs behind x and passes to the guy that fed him
- Side Line, then passes to the attack coming around X and he quick stick shoots

Mule Drill
http://www.laxcoachmike.com/fullmembers/2015/08/article-the-mule-drill-pfeiffer/
This is a 4v4 drill which incorporates GB, 4v4, and Lock Off Drill
- Put a goalie in cage
- Divide kids evenly into two different colors
- Place 1 of each color at the 4 corners
- Roll a ball and a 1v1 GB happens, whoever wins the GB is on offense
- The 3 off ball defense "lock on" their man. This forces the 3 other offensive players to work hard at getting open
- Each of the 4 offensive players must touch the ball before going to cage
- Offense must look to set picks and work together to get open
- Make it competitive, offense gets 2 points for scoring, defense gets 1 for stopping play
