Horsey Drill
https://www.hoganlax.com/horsey-drill1
- Take your attack and a few middies that want to play attack
- Make two lines at the end line behind the goal
- First line breaks right, turns at GLE, switches hands and passes back to the first guy in the 2nd line, who is now standing center goal.
- The 2nd guy, catches with the stick forward and does the same thing on the opposite side
- Make sure on the turn, the person dodges first then changes hands.
- If you are going left, you catch left hand, if going right you catch with the right hand
- Variation: Make 3 lines, 1 at x, 2 at either side of GLE. X guy starts with the ball drives to one side, that side GLE guy clears through, and the far side GLE gets to X where its redirected back to the topside guy clearing through.

1v1v1 Ground Ball Transition
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZFBXWgeg3kc
Fast paced ground ball to transition drill emphasizing "GB - Pass - Pass"
- Use a full field for transition play
- Create 3 lines of kids at the end line behind the goal and outside the box
- Create 2 lines of kids to be used as transition players (on the same side line of the field)
- First line of transition players should be in between box and the mid line
- Second line of transition players should be in between the box and the mid line at the other end of the field
- Coach stands by the 3 lines of kids and gently rolls a ball out
- X1, X2, X3 all fight for the ball (every man for themselves)
- Whoever wins passes to the first line of transitions players and that man passes to the second line of transition players
- Right away the two in the line that lost play again 1v1, the winner passes to the next transition
- Finally the guy that lost twice, does it 1v0 and passes to the next transition
- Each player rotates to the next line
- Have the last transition player come down and place the ball near the coach

Diamond 2 Man Game
This drill is an on the crease two man game with two defenders. The objective of the drill is to pass the ball around the goal and make a pass to an inside guy who is cutting or picking to get open.
- This drill involves at least 8 players
- Setup 4 players in a diamond pattern around the goal (with the top player near the top of the box)
- Put 2 offense and 2 defenders in the crease
- Add a goalie
- The 4 diamond passing guys pass the ball around the goal, holding it for a few seconds
- The inside offensive guys look to set picks, do picks and rolls, and to play the 2 man game
- Defense is reacting to where the ball is with sticks up
- The outside players look to feed an inside guy (they cannot shoot the ball)
- Players on the inside should play for about 45 seconds then rotate (if a goal is scored outside players grab another ball)
- Defense should keep sticks up, check sticks, look to intercept, talk to each other

John Hopkins 3v2 Challenge
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivm2d55bOY8
Great competition drill that teaches soft hands on offense and quick ball movement.
- Have the kids split up with dark vs light
- Have each team run for 5 minutes in offense and defense and keep track of who wins
- Setup 5 cones around the goal, the cones are in a star pattern with the top of the star at the top of the goal about 10 yards away
- Have the defense on the back 2 cones behind the net
- Have the offense on the top 3 cones
- Place a goalie in the net and use tennis balls
- Coach throws a ball to an offensive player and it turns into a 3v2
- Defense has to adjust to the man and talk to stop the ball from going in the net
The losing team has to do extra pushups or sprints
