  • Divide players into six groups: two rows with three lines in each, facing each other
  • Start in the bottom left corner, throwing the ball to top left.
  • Players will catch, switch hands, and move the ball to the person in the middle, passing in the shape of a W

10 Min Crossfire Passing

A good drill to reinforce two passes and 2 man game

  • Create a square about 15 yards by 15 yards
  • Have 4 kids per team for a total of 8 players
  • For each team, put 2 guys on the outside and 2 guys in the inside
  • The outside guys are on opposite sides of the square and cannot go inside the square
  • The inside guys are free to roam in the middle area
  • Start with the ball on the outside, make a pass or two into the middle and then to the other side
  • If through the middle and out the other side, you gain one point
  • If the ball is loose in the middle players fight for the ball
  • If the ball rolls out, it starts with the team on the line where the ball goes out
  • Try to string together multiple points

5 Min Water
10 Min Pass Down, Pick Down
  • Have 2 offensive lines on one side of the field, one at GLE and the other at the top of the box
  • Have 2 defensive lines
  • Top offensive guy, passes down to the bottom one, then immediately cuts in and sets a pick for him to dodge top-side
  • Turns into a 2 v 2
  • Pick guy should roll
10 Min Run the Arc +1
  • With a goalie in net, Place two cones at the 5 by 5 on each side of the goal
  • Have an Offensive and Defensive guy behind the net
  • The Offensive guy runs his guy to one side of the field, then the other
  • Have a second defender slide before hitting the cone, and double
  • Variation: Add another defender and offensive player
5 Min Water
10 Min Scoop and Shoot both sides of the field
  • Have 4 lines of guys in a box around the field
  • Lines on each side work together, balls are at one line per side and they roll a ground ball out, pickup the ball and shoot
15 Min The 1-2-3 Drill

http://www.laxcoachmike.com/fullmembers/2010/12/article-coach-garber-1-2-3-get-game-ready/

The drill helps players prepare to be game ready. It forces a situation of a man advantage and makes the defense adjust to slide, recover, and fill.

  • Put a goalie in the net.
  • This is a 6v6 drill with 3 attack and 3 offensive middies, 3 defenders and 3 defensive middies
  • Give a number to each of the 3 defenders (1,2,3) and each of the defensive middies (1,2,3). Only the defensive players are given numbers
  • The drill begins with a GB or pass to an offensive player
  • Following a short period of play, the coach yells out a number for example "Middie 1"
  • The players need to think and react, if the player "Middie 1" is covering the ball, then he must exit the field through the box (or midfield) and either be replaced by another "middie 1" or run back onto the field
  • If "Middie 1" is is off ball, he must immediately leave his offensive player and double the ball.
  • This forces the defensive players to be ready as their roles change to slide, recover, and fill until we are at even strength
