Time Drill
5 Min Active Stretching
  • Great parts of the weekend:
    • Clears: Diagonal passing, butter killed them.
    • Rides: we locked off their middies, our attack was vicious, transitioned to 3-3, middies subbing were perfect, killed their butter
    • Seal picks with fast dodgers led to lots of goals
  • Points of improvements:
    • Defense clearing needs to get the stick in their weak hand or face dodge to the weak side, once in open field look to pass, someone needs to maverick towards ball
    • Sliding needs to lead with stick follow with body
    • Need the whole team to get their hands on the sticks of the guy passing or shooting (Ryan and Rowan did this well)
    • Thunder look to the box to pass the ball, as many teams will double on subs
    • Scoop through ground balls (Soren did this well)
    • Need to get an attack at X on the slow break
  • Individual: Aiden shoot 3/4 to bounce less high, Xavier no more slap checks, Michael head up on the clear and get the stick to the outside

  • 4 Min in the air
  • 4 Min catch roll it, roll it throw it
10 Min Continuous 3v2 with swaxlax
10 Min Irish Channel
  • Drill teaches the defense to put your hands on a guy and drive him away
  • Create a rectangle about 30 yards long and 5 yards wide
  • Put a cone at the end of the 30 yards
  • 1 v 1 drill, offensive player does not have a ball
  • Defense works on vholds, drop step, pushing the hips
  • Defensive guy starts 5 yards to stop
  • If offensive guy is pushed out, he reenters the drill from the same place
  • Offensive guy must touch the cone at the end



10 Min Team Defense
  • Pinch scheme, get on hands with pokes or lifts on the pass
  • Drill: Offense moves the ball, defense pressures and pinches, look to lift check


Rules of Sliding - when you initiate a slide it needs to be done with the proper technique

  • Slide to where he's going, not to where he's been - anticipate the path of the driving attackman
  • Breakdown on arrival - be ready to play solid defense - knees bent, back straight, balls of feet
  • Stay in front of the Attacker - the on-ball defender is forcing the player down the side of the field, stay in front of the ball carrier
  • Slide man stays on the ball - Once a defender initiates a slide, he must go, and once there he is now responsible for that man, the original defender recovers to the crease
  • Original ball defender recovers to the crease to pickup open man - if the slide is effective in making the attacker peel away the original on ball defender should recover to the crease
  • Lead with the stick, follow with the body - After leading with the stick, you’ll follow through with your body lowering the shoulder to make contact.
5 Min 53 Pick and Roll and Slip Shooting
  • two guys, one guy runs a 53, the other clears through and slips or sets pick and roll, 53 guy hits the guy but must look.
5 Min 2 man game at x with 2 cutters
  • Get two attack behind X, one dodges the other picks
  • Two middies in the center like 42 dodges
  • Dodger at X can pass to the pick guy to redirect, or keep going
  • Middies adjust to who cuts first
10 Min Blocker Pad Ground Ball
  • Line of kids, coach drops ball in front of blocker pad
  • Step 1: Box Out - kid runs up turns and boxes out and gets ground ball
  • Step 2: Run through - kid runs and tries to scoop with protection
  • Parent lightly bumps them under pressure

60 Min 6 v 6 missions 3 phases
  • Offense: 53, 32, 21, 12, 33, 55, 42, princeton, pick and roll/slips, dodge to draw double dump to sliding man
  • Defense: Amigo, Standard, Pinch, Heavy, Camel
